Stamp printers involved for Malaya

In the pre-1957 period most stamps for the Peninsula [incl. Singapore] were printed by De La Rue in letterpress/typography. But in the Northen part of Borneo other printers were very active. It must have had something to do with these areas falling outside the Crown Agents.

For one reason or another, the Postage Dues stamps were rather printed in letterpress by Watelrow.

Johore had a commemorative printed in 1935 by Waterlow in recess. A new 8c definitive in recess was eventually printed by DLR in 1940 as well as the Diamond Jubilee in 1955..

Kedah definitives were printed in recess by DLR, with Waterlow taken over somein 1937.

Kelantan recess $1 by DLR since 1928; Bradbury Wilkinson taking over in 1937.

Omnibus issues like 1935 Silver Jubilee, 1937 Coronation, 1948 Royal Wedding, 1949 UPU, 1953 Coronation tell a separate story.
